The first session of the European Bible School was a great success. Seventy-five church leaders and members from twenty-seven countries attended, including Scotland and Northern Ireland—a first for us! Classes included a workshop on preaching taught by Kelly Petre, a teacher with the Boston church of Christ; a seminar on basic counseling taught by licensed Boston psychologist Dr. David McAnulty; and a two-day exposition of the Gospel of Matthew taught by Dr. Steve Kinnard, an evangelist and teacher from New York with a Doctor of Ministry degree. The fellowship was fantastic, with many brothers and sisters sharing about the progress being made on many fronts in their home congregations. There was even an international soccer match between Bible School participants that resulted in a 2:2 tie. Finally, we enjoyed worshiping with the Budapest church on Sunday afternoon. Thierry Fender from Geneva did a fantastic job coordinating this first session, and the Budapest church was a model host for the event. We look forward to continuing to equip European disciples for the work of ministry at future sessions of the European Bible School, scheduled to take place in other cities around Europe, and thank God for guiding our efforts with this new cooperative venture among U.S. and European churches.
