Our great and awesome God
Be still and know that I am God!
Around 40 disciples from all over Europe decided to join
a time of silence, a time of worship and marvelling at God and his
creation and a time of reflecting on our walk with God. We met in a
wonderful location, that the Geneva church discovered a couple of years
ago and has used ever since. A 60-bed wooden chalet on 1500 m, with the
simple charme of a mountain block house, a big kitchen and a wonderful
view on the highest mountain of Europe: the Mont Blanc. As Thierry and
3 other brothers brought a van load of food, we were looking forward to
a great time of fellowship and learning together. Since it was end of
October, the village was basically deserted, a couple of dogs were the
only company we could enjoy in those three days.
On Thursday
we started the weekend with a time of worship around a campfire, which
the wild at heart guys had prepared by finding and cutting wood. Tears
were flowing as we spend quite some time singing to our great God under
the beautiful French stars.
On Friday Mirko Russo
taught about the sovereignty of God and had a slide show about the
vastness of the universe. In the afternoon, many went on a hike to a
2000m high peak, which had a huge cross on top. For some not being
completely aware of the danger of the mountains with a slight rain and
the falling darkness, we were glad to have all sheep come back home
tired but happy. As David McAnulty taught us about the necessity and
the blessing of learning to be silent before our God, we spent one and
a half hours in total silence praying, reading and writing.
On Saturday
Fred shared and taught about lessons he learned in 9 years of long
early morning prayers. We were mostly inspired and also convicted to go
much deeper in our personal walk with God. Another campfire ended our
time together. The last people left the fire by 1.30h in the morning.
On Sunday,
as the Geneva church with dozens of children came up to join us, we
heard a great lesson about the God we are serving and who is serving us.
Amazing
organization, a relaxed and humble fellowship, a handful of tirelessly
serving Geneva disciples and of course the incredible location made the
EBS-4 a precious memory for all of us.
